It seems like the first quarter of 2012 has flown by! As we prepare for our move to India, we had the opportunity to spend the month of February traveling around Southern California. In California, we had the opportunity to connect with family and friends, and to spread a vision for the ministry of advancing the gospel in India through training leaders for biblical churches. It was an intense month as we had great opportunities to speak at a missions conferences and several different churches, and have many meetings with church leaders, small groups, and other friends. It was a great blessing to hear about what God is doing through his church in that area, and a great encouragement to talk about the opportunity in India and hear many express an interest in partnering with us through prayer and/or financial support. Please continue to pray for opportunities to share and that God would provide for the work.

We came back from our time in California to a trial at our home church. The situation, involving the resignation of one of our pastors, has resulted in much hurt and division within the body. Much of our time over the last month has been devoted to seeking to help the church through this time, and the trial is ongoing. Please pray that God brings unity and healing to the church through his grace, and that the church is able to soon renew our focus on reaching our community and making disciples among the nations.

In the midst of everything over the past month, we have also moved. We had put our home on the market at the beginning of February, and God graciously provided a buyer very quickly. So we are now in an apartment on a short-term lease until it is time to go to India! We know many prayed for the sale of our home and we are very grateful to have that part of the transition behind us.

This week, we are in South Carolina for the year’s major meeting of the board of directors for Amiela (the mission org we work with). God has provided leaders for this organization from various places in the country, and though we frequently communicate over email and Skype, this will be our first opportunity to all gather in person for an extended period of time. Please pray that God uses this time to build unity among our leadership team, to sharpen our focus, to make wise plans for the work in India, and to build our vision for the continued expansion of the ministry.

Plans for the next few months include continuing to serve at the church, continuing to communicate the vision for the ministry in India, and seeking to finish the first draft of my dissertation by July 15. Please join us in trusting God for these things.

One logistical note: we are soon going to be changing the way we communicate updates and prayer needs, moving to an email-newsletter format, so please be on the lookout in the next couple weeks for an email from us asking you to confirm your subscription.
